2005 Fundraising Events

11th Biennial Epicurean Gala and Auction – Ritz Carlton Washington, DC
February 7, 2005

Over $60,000.00 was raised for Chapter Scholarship and Grant programs at this gala evening that featured a sumptuous feast inspired by the late Grande Dame and past Honorary Gala Chair, Julia Child. TV Commentator Cokie Roberts and Grande Dame Anne Willan served as this year’s Honorary Chairs. Gala Emcee was Marc Silverstein, co-host of Food Network’s “The Best of”. And, special guest speaker was Stephanie Hersh, long-time personal assistant to Julia Child. Kari Kirwin, Executive Director of Dinner Program for Homeless Women, accepted a check on behalf of the Dinner Program, this year’s Chapter Grant recipient.

 

2004 Fundraising Events

Residence of the British Ambassador and Lady Manning – A Special Luncheon Honoring Nigella Lawson upon the publication of FEAST. November 8, 2004

 

An exclusive luncheon at the Ambassador’s residence for Dames and their guests. The event included a book signing and a luncheon menu inspired by recipes from Ms. Lawson’s newest publication. Following luncheon service, Ms. Lawson discussed her FEAST philosophy and entertained questions from the guests. Les Dames d’Escoffier Washington DC is grateful to Ambassador and Lady Manning for their generous and gracious hospitality. This very special luncheon raised over $4,500.00 for Chapter Scholarship and Grant Programs.

 

Arts of the Table – Restaurant Nora
October 24, 2004
A first-of-its kind fundraiser for Les Dames d’Escoffier Washington D.C. Guests were able to purchase one-of-a-kind table adornments – linens, china, silver, glassware, etc. Special presentations from Grande Dame Anne Willan, Chef Todd Gray and floral designer David Dowling engaged and educated guests. Dames prepared and donated savory and sweet nibbles and over $7,000.00 was raised for the Scholarship and Grant Programs.

 

Romanian Embassy
June 14, 2004
Ambassador Sorin Ducaru and wife Carmen Ducaru hosted a cocktail buffet fundraiser at their beautiful residence off Embassy Row. In the home’s chandelier-appointed dining room guests were treated to traditional Romanian dishes prepared by the embassy chef, Cezar Munteanu. Romanian wines accompanied the repast. Approximately $3,000.00 was raised for the Scholarship fund.
