Carla Hall has been hired as consulting chef, a.k.a. culinary ambassador, for the 400-seat, cafeteria-style North Star Café housed in the new Smithsonian African-American Museum. The museum is slated to open Sept. 24 on the Mall.
Chef Laurie Weber and husband Reto were honored to host His Excellency Martin Dahinden, the Swiss Ambassador to the U.S., and his wife, Anita Dahinden, along with the Swiss embassy staff on May 31 at Laurie and Reto's The Swiss Bakery in Springfield, VA. The group was treated to The Swiss Bakery's breakfast specialties as they toured the store and production area and later enjoyed a luncheon in the bakery's Café.
