Today we honor our fearless leader, Madame President Dame Drew Faulkner! Not only does Drew lead us, but she inspires all us Dames to reach higher, grow deeper and be the best we can be! Wait till you find out what challenge she had- with a turkey!!!
... My proudest moment as President of Les Dames d'Escoffier DC chapter was: awarding scholarships! The greatest career challenge I've ever had was: running out of turkey on Thanksgiving before dinner service was over! Did I say the restaurant was 10 miles from the nearest grocery store? Can’t believe I’m here to tell the tale. If I had to choose a different career it would be an environmental advocate Best changes over the years in the DC Food scene are: We now have a plethora of great restaurants. When I was first married my in-laws lived here. When we would come to visit they strained to come up with fun places to take us for dinner. My favorite cookbook is: I have a lot. Favorite French- Madeline Kamman, Making of a Cook; Indian- Julie Sahni Classic Indian, Japanese- Shozuo Tsuji, Japanese Cooking A Simple Art (really I could go on and on….) If I had a last meal, it would be:Kaiseki Dinner I'd say the future of Les Dames d'Escoffier is: Wide Open! The more we all put in, the more we, and the world around us, gets out!!!
