Dear Sister Dames,

I would like to give a big thanks to Drew Faulkner for hosting our Summer Potluck and for all who attended. We had a chance to meet some of our new Dames and enjoy an enormous variety of great appetizers,  entrees and desserts (just love those desserts).

Bonnie Benwick, our Second Vice President, Education and Community Outreach,  is working on Dames-only professional development programs as well as public events.  She will soon be sending out a chapter-wide survey to find out what kinds of things we would like to teach each other in small, low-cost or free sessions. Your participation is greatly appreciated.  Feel free to contact her with your ideas:  benwickb@gmail.com

Eileen Dykes and Laurie Bell are hard at work to organize the greatest Salute to Women in Gastronomy: Celebrating Food symposium ever in 2018.  This will be our 11th biennial day-long event of educational programs open to the public.  In 2016,  we attracted 240 participants.  Kindly contact Eileen at eileendykes@gmail.com, or Laurie at laurie@greatfallsteagarden.com to volunteer and let them know what your specialties are.

Due to popular demand, August 12, 2017, is the date of the next now-famous Moorenko's Ice Cream Factory Tour with Susan Soorenko.  Don't forget to tell your friends to attend.  Attendees will have a chance to make and eat delicious ice cream.

The 2017 LDEI Annual Conference will be held October 26-29 at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California.

I still remember the first conference I attended, which was in Boston.  I felt a little lost and didn't know what to expect.  When the conference was over, I had learned so much about Les Dames d'Escoffier and who we are and why we do what we do.  After I met and chatted with Dames from across the U.S, Canada, Mexico and the U.K, I felt that we all were so much alike and shared common interests and goals.  From then on, I have attended conference every year. Each has been more fun than the previous one.  I can't wait to go to Newport Beach, hosted by the Los Angeles/Orange County Chapter.  For those of you who plan or would like to attend conference, please let me know. Perhaps we can help arrange for roommates and coordinated travel.

Again, thanks for all that you do for LDE-DC to make our organization a great success.

Please feel free to contact me with any suggestions or concerns.

Yours truly,

Editor's Note:

ENTRE NEWS is published on the first and  third Wednesday of each month.  It is on hiatus during the month of August. Deadline for HURRAH! and other news is the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Please send a BRIEF paragraph with your professional and personal news that you would like your sister Dames to know about in HURRAH!

HURRAH! is not meant as an advertising opportunity for a cooking class or event, rather it offers a shout out to members for recent accomplishments and honors.   Please submit your HURRAH to kns4pr@erols.com in a succinct 75 words of less.

OF INTEREST offers Dames a chance to let their sister chapter members know about events they are involved in that might be of interest to a majority of the membership.  Its function is not to promote products, cooking classes, culinary trips, etc., rather to alert members to public programs that might be of professional interest, especially if Dames are featured.   We request OF INTEREST entries to be no longer than 150 words. Less is always better.

JOB OPPS can open Dames networks to employment opportunities.

Send information to Entre News Editor Katherine Newell Smith kns4pr@erols.com

Thank you for you continued interest and participation.
