Dear Sister Dames,
Janis McLean, Drew Faulkner, Laurie Weber, Laurie Bell and I joined 25 non-Dames for an exclusive tour of Atwater's kitchens in Baltimore led by Nona Nielsen Parker. Nona oversees this facility that produces an incredible variety of foodstuffs including jams, cheeses, soups, baked goods and even ice cream used in their restaurants and offered at many farmer's markets around D.C. and Baltimore. Ned Atwater followed his dream with the mission of making the highest quality of absolutely everything they produce and to support local farmers and craftsmen. Thank you, Nona, for opening your kitchen to us!
There are still a few spots open for Dames and their friends to join Debra Moser and her husband Mitch Berliner on June 15th for a tour of their MeatCrafters facility to learn exactly how they make their unique and delicious selection of cured meat and salamis. Click here to register for this event. Don't miss this special opportunity to learn about and taste their wonderful products.
And back by popular demand, tours of Moorenko's ice cream will be held again in July and August at Susan Soorenko's facility in Silver Spring, Maryland.
I continue to be in awe of our talented Dames and thankful for their willingness to share their knowledge.
A gentle reminder to pay your member dues on or before June 30th to avoid the $25 penalty that results after that date. You can pay your dues online through Eventbrite or send a check directly to Marie Ostrosky. Details found in the newsletter below.
As always, it is an honor and a privilege to serve as your president. Any concerns, questions or comments, please email me [email protected] or call at 410-903-2682.

On Saturday May 20th, Nona Nielsen Parker hosted an in depth, educational, and delicious tour of Atwater's Big Kitchen in Baltimore. The sold out group of thirty, including several Dames, got an in-depth and exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of this multifaceted production kitchen. The morning started off with a tasty selection of cheeses, condiments, breads, crackers, and beverages all made on site. The hour-plus walking tour through the facility began in the cheese and ice cream production room with everyone enjoying a sample of Atwater's velvety rich ice cream. The next stops took us through the butcher shop, jams and condiments and the dessert and bread production areas where owner Ned Atwater spoke and also demonstrated some of the industrial size mixers. Then it was on to the outside garden and hothouse and the wrapping and labeling stations before we sat down to a luncheon, all prepared on site. Atwater's hospitality was over the top as every attendee went home with a goody bag of Atwater's specialties.
Dames Janis McLean, Laurie Bell, Nona Nielsen-Parker, Drew Faulkner, Ann Stratte, Laurie Weber gathered for lunch at Atwater's.

ENTRE NEWS is published on the first and third Wednesday of each month. It is on hiatus during the month of August. Deadline for HURRAH! and other news is the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Please send a BRIEF paragraph with your professional and personal news that you would like your sister Dames to know about in HURRAH!
HURRAH! is not meant as an advertising opportunity for a cooking class or event, rather it offers a shout out to members for recent accomplishments and honors. Please submit your HURRAH to [email protected] in a succinct 75 words of less.
OF INTEREST offers Dames a chance to let their sister chapter members know about events they are involved in that might be of interest to a majority of the membership. Its function is not to promote products, cooking classes, culinary trips, etc., rather to alert members to public programs that might be of professional interest, especially if Dames are featured. We request OF INTEREST entries to be no longer than 150 words. Less is always better.
JOB OPPS can open Dames networks to employment opportunities.
Thank you for you continued interest and participation.
