Dear Sister Dames,
We are now entering into the second quarter of our chapter's fiscal year. By now you should have all received an invitation to the Autumn General Membership Meeting and dinner. It will be held next Tuesday at Hollywood East Café in Wheaton on Oct. 10, at 6:15 p.m. The meeting is a great way to connect or reconnect with your sister Dames, share your expertise and, most importantly, explore ways we can assist each other in building our success as individuals and as an organization. Remember, the bylaws require you to attend one meeting every calendar year, so please make time for this very important evening. If you are unable to make it, please complete and send a proxy. Click here to print the proxy. There are a few items we will need to take a vote on; so, a quorum is necessary.
In addition, we need your talents, connections and expertise to make our 2018 Women In Gastronomy (WIG) symposium next March the best ever. This will be our largest fundraiser for the year. Eileen Dykes and Laurie Bell have been hard at work organizing the committees, making programming plans and gathering volunteers and speakers for this signature event. They need help, though.
Please see more information below about how you can get involved.
The 2017 LDEI Annual Conference will be held October 26-29 at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California. It is not too late to sign up. Please let me know if you are planning to attend and if you would like to share a room. LDEI can help in finding you a roommate.
Again, thank you for all you do for LDEDC in making our chapter a great success.
Tel: 301-537-8822
Yours truly,
Janet Yu

Our chapter's next Women in Gastronomy Symposium (WIG) is fast approaching. It takes place on March 10, 2018 at The Universities at Shady Grove. We are creating a program of inspiring break-out sessions and seek volunteers to help make this the most successful symposium yet. Please mark your calendars and save Saturday, March 10, 2018 for a day of service to our local LDE chapter. As the break-out sessions and specific volunteer positions are finalized, we ask all of our members to sign up and help in some capacity. You might organize or serve on a panel, check in attendees, help on site that day, donate an item to the symposium "goody" bags, advertise the symposium to the public or collect items for the Cookbook Jumble and Culinary Garage Sale ahead of time. More info to come in the next Entre News!
Also, Julia Rutland is updating the Dames' Restaurant guide for the symposium, so please send her the name of your restaurant to include on our list at [email protected].
|
We want to get to know and support Dames-affiliated restaurants; so, if you would like to schedule a Dames Who Dine Dinner at your or your Dame-client's restaurant, please contact Julia Rutland at [email protected]. You are not expected to provide any special menus or discounts but we do like to work through you so that you might join us!

We are arranging a professional development series for DAMES ONLY. The plan is to hold these every two weeks beginning this fall. We are still finalizing details of when, where, at what time and if a small fee will be required. (See topics under Programs, below) We will inform you as soon as possible. We will introduce the series during the Autumn General Membership Meeting on October 10 and talk about future opportunities! If there's a topic you would like to see included, please contact Second V.P., Education and Community Outreach Programs, Bonnie Benwick at [email protected].

ENTRE NEWS is published on the first and third Wednesday of each month. It is on hiatus during the month of August. Deadline for HURRAH! and other news is the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Please send a BRIEF paragraph with your professional and personal news that you would like your sister Dames to know about in HURRAH!
HURRAH! is not meant as an advertising opportunity for a cooking class or event, rather it offers a shout out to members for recent accomplishments and honors. Please submit your HURRAH to [email protected] in a succinct 75 words of less.
OF INTEREST offers Dames a chance to let their sister chapter members know about events they are involved in that might be of interest to a majority of the membership. Its function is not to promote products, cooking classes, culinary trips, etc., rather to alert members to public programs that might be of professional interest, especially if Dames are featured. We request OF INTEREST entries to be no longer than 150 words. Less is always better.
JOB OPPS can open Dames networks to employment opportunities.
Thank you for you continued interest and participation.
