ANNOUNCING A NEW LDEDC MEMBER ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY
REEL TASTY: DAMES DISCUSS FOOD IN FILM It’s a movie club--like a book club, without the reading. Dames will watch fiction films with plenty of food scenes as well as the occasional culinary documentary on their own and then meet via Zoom every 6 weeks. Each time, a Dame host will choose the movie and lead the discussion. Membership in the group is open to all interested Dames. DATE: January 11 TIME: TBD RSVP: More information coming soon HOST: Gail Forman, contact at [email protected] to join the discussion FILM SELECTION: The Lunch Box, directed by Ritesh Batra and available on Amazon and Mubi. The New York Times called it “An Indian Appetizer, Subtly Spiced,” and went on to say, “at its heart The Lunchbox is about the amazing dabbawallahs, who transport hot meals by Mumbai housewives to their deskbound husbands. A rare mix-up leads to a connection between a woman trying to woo her husband through his stomach and a testy insurance claims adjuster [a stranger] sliding toward early retirement. The two pass notes in the lunchbox” and create a fantasy relationship.
